The Seishindo Transformation Method™

Introduction

In Seishindo we believe that–

  • You are capable of transforming yourself and acting with clarity and purpose.
  • The journey of living your life is more important than the destination you arrive at.
  • The quality of the your life is much more important than the goals you accomplish or the objects of desire you obtain.

We encourage you to believe in yourself, and appreciate the people you are in relationship with and all that life has to offer you.

The Seishindo Method of Self-Transformation is based on a 5-5-5 concept of implementation:
5-Stage Learning Cycle, which is supported by
5 Key Service Offerings, which are based on
5 Key Disciplines

5-Stage Learning Cycle

Process & Disciplines

You can leverage the process of transforming yourself by engaging in a five stage recursive cycle of learning:

1. Positive Intention sets the stage for all you learn. Begin each learning cycle stating your positive intention and believing that something life affirming will come out of the current challenge you are facing.

2. Initial Practice of an exercise or way of engaging in the world, that will  point you towards acting with clarity and purpose. Rather than looking for immediate results, focus on learning and affirming the positive qualities you possess.

3. Contemplate and Debrief what has been learned, being certain to focus on the positive aspects of your experience.

4. Apply what has been learned in the spirit of experimentation. When you apply what you have learned, notice what appears to be different from before in your mindset, your body, and the results you achieve, and what appears to be the same.

5. Further Practice once again, beginning from the perspective you gained from your first round of learning, contemplation, debrief, and application.

And then begin again with a re-evaluation of your initial positive intention.

“We shall not cease from exploration, and the end of all our exploring will be to arrive where we started and know the place for the first time.”  — T.S. Eliot

5 Key Disciplines used by Seishindo

The learning cycle and offerings of Seishindo use the following disciplines to foster the self-transformation and clarity of purpose that you desire.

Shin Shin Toitsu Aikido

This form of Aikido was developed by Koichi Tohei. The Aikido practitioner learns to coordinate the activity of their body with their rational mind, in order to respond to life’s many challenges with the wisdom of the “whole self.”

The practitioner honors and protects the aggressor while neutralizing their attack. Very importantly, Aikido does not teach any form of pre-emptive strike. Instead the practitioner learns how to “go with the flow” of the energy the aggressor presents, rather than attempting to impede them.

Noguchi Seitai

Named after its creator Haruchika Noguchi, Seitai refers to the way in which the body moves naturally and tends towards health and well-being when all excess muscular tension is released.

Noguchi sensei said, “The body is like a top. Unless it’s moving, you don’t know what it’s meant to be or how to use it.”

Both illness and health are understood to be created by your patterns of movement and the ways your body restricts or releases the natural flow of energy throughout your system.

The practitioner looks to find the natural flow of movement inherent in the system. Freeing people to perform with greater flexibility, ease, and a sense of positive potential.

The practice of Noguchi Seitai leads one to understand how to go with the flow of energy that is present, rather than attempting to understand intellectually what needs to be done differently.

Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP)

NLP is the art, science, and practice of understanding and valuing people. It is sometimes called “The Owner’s and Operator’s Manual for the Human Mind.”

“Neuro” refers to how experience is received through your five senses.

“Linguistic” describes how the information received through the five senses is translated into language – the words you use to describe your world to yourself and others.

“Programming” indicates the highly-structured framework used to organize experience within your thinking mind and body.

NLP is considered by many to be a foremost field of study for achieving excellence in various areas of one’s life. Examples include: communication skills, cultivating high quality relationships, shared leadership, creativity, and overall emotional and physical health. NLP can help you explore how your mental strategies, communication patterns, value system, and the overall use of your body, significantly influence every aspect of your life.

Ericksonian Hypnosis

Originated by Milton Erickson, M.D., this discipline provides a view into how we construct, communicate, and self-identify within our individual models of reality.

Recognizing that you and everyone you encounter has a unique personal structure of logic and emotion helps you build strong relationships, communicate clearly, and change detrimental habit patterns.

Self-relations Psychotherapy

A form of psychotherapy originated by Stephen Gilligan, it draws from and builds upon the legacy of Milton Erickson.

Self-relations emphasizes the positive aspects of problems and symptoms. In Self-relations the practitioner strives to use each and every event and experience to awaken to the goodness and gifts of the self, the world, and the connections between the two.

Furthermore…

We are constantly on the lookout for neuroscience research that leads to a scientific understanding of the principles used in Seishindo. More and more we discover that Oriental practices and disciplines and emerging scientific models, point towards the same wisdom and understanding.

Also, you can check out the Seishindo Core Principles to understand the belief system that informs all of our work.

Where to go from here

Now that you have an understanding about what we have to offer and what Seishindo is all about, your next step depends on what you want to achieve.

If you are most interested in self-paced learning, you can study our Articles and Practices or try out our Traditional Japanese Stress Management Program. Don’t forget, we also have the Seishindo Life Tools™ podcasts as a way to listen and learn. We find self-paced learning best for those who are wanting help with general challenges that are somewhat straightforward to address, for example: overcoming procrastination, handling everyday anger, and feeling calm and centered in your everyday life.

However, if you are wanting to go deeper and need a more specialized program or focus, please contact me for a free introductory session and we can discuss how I might be able to help you, whether it be coaching sessions or a self-paced learning program. My goal is to help you transform in a manner which fits your style of learning and your financial budget.

You can also visit our Forums at any time, to ask questions and get responses from myself or others in the Seishindo community. Sometimes sharing with and learning from others can be the best way to take a step forward in your life.
